Why I'm disappointed with my iPhone
By Todd Schafer
When a product is hyped for as long as this one was, and when my anticipation for the phone is so great that I actually wait in line for SIX hours to get it....well, you can bet my expectations were high. First of all, it's a beautiful phone. The design is sleek and you can tell Apple spent hours getting the interface just so. The browser for the Internet blows away it's nearest competitors, and was the main reason a Blackberry just wasn't going to work for me. It's two drawbacks, however, are significant. The battery life is just abysmal. Don't even think about using this without some sort of battery backup. Even though I am not using the phone, just having it on drains my battery by 1:00 PM. Not good for someone who must remain in contact. Secondly, and why else would we buy a phone for heaven's sake, the network this phone works on is markedly worse than AT&T's network that my old Treo ran from. Numerous dropped calls, people can't hear me but I can hear them, long connect times; you name it. If it's related to the PHONE, it's a big disappointment. I suppose when more cell towers are built, my experience with this phone will be better. As of now, I can honestly say I wouldnt buy the phone knowing what I know. |
