FBI investigating extortion attempt against Pitino
By Todd Schafer
An attorney for the estranged wife of Louisville's equipment manager has been contacted by the FBI about the extortion allegations leveled by the coach Rick Pitino. Attorney Thomas Clay said that he spoke with the FBI about the matter last week but had no other or further comment. He is the legal counsel of Karen Sypher, the wife of longtime equipment manager Tim Sypher. The Syphers are in the process of getting a divorce Atty. Clay added. The extortion allegations reached the public late Saturday when Pitino and the university issued a statement that did not give any details. Pitino said he brought this matter to FBI last month. |
